Yeah, Michael Chapman modified the 3 ram integrated trim style clamp to run a 15 inch mid. Its not for racing or rough water use. But it is lighter and much easier for me when swapping engines. There aren't many out there, but I know he has done several.
The lower unit is a TM with nosecone done by JC.Go Time

Sorry did not mean to be such a D!#k head..........
The fitting dose not get in the way as the turn stops on the tiller only let it turn so much.
When I cut off the top of the Bobs nose cone I could see the inside of the casting. There is not much of a channel for the water to go threw.
So we just caped the top off and I drilled and taped it for one 3/4" hose fitting.
Just like the look and the water dose not make 2 90 degree turns coming out of the nose cone.

Not so much as to be different. Just thought what would do the best job.
I think about **** to much some times.....LOL
You should see how many fittings I got looking for just the right one. Measuring the insides of them all and how the castings looked in side.........OCD has nothing on me................................LOL
It kept me busy for a few weeks just Fing whit fittings and hose.

One could almost just use PEX type A plumbing parts. They are indestructible, brass fittings and flow full 3/4 id not like the old stuff which if its 3/4 it only flows 1/2 id. Plus its slippery, doesn't have a rubber core to slow down flow. If you don't know what I am talking about then you probably can't really get a good visual. Thats why someone invented YouTube.
Yes, I'm also a plumber, and most importantly a contractor. If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

Pex would probublay work really well and be cheaper than the full AN type I normally use.

I'm having my 20" 280 ROS Mid cut down to 15" also. Single ram and and a CLE lower unit.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

I'm pretty sure the factory 15 inch mids came with a swivel bracket with 2 more inches of setback to allow for full tuck.
Any fool can make something complicated - it takes a genius to make it simple.

On my swivel bracket, the swivel pin tube was moved back quite a bit as you can see. This provides the needed clearance between the center ram and the forward lip of the factory can. It also makes it necessary to extend the tiller arm of the swivel pin.
