Weren't the early 200xs motors on a 2.5 mid and SM splined 2.5 were as the newer gens are on a 3.0 lt mid SM with 3.0 lt splined shafts? The 3.0 Lt gear case and mid would add a lot more weight perhaps along with the adapter plate? First ones dynod at 200hp later ones 240 like the 225 PM was. But really would a mid and shaft be 50 lbs difference?
Deweysdad your motor is around the same weight as my 225PM.

Never inspected a 3.0 mid, but the swivel bracket on our 'little' motor is a lot more robust than our 225PM. Along with the plate & mid, I can see where it could add 50lbs.

The 200xs has never had a 3L mid or lower. The one year only 2005 2.5XS is the "240hp" bastard motor with 3L parts. Merc has been getting more accurate over the years with their weights. That's why the old 200xs and the new ones are a different weight on the tag even though there is no huge physical difference in the two. I'd say 434lbs is pretty close for a 15" 200xs minus fluids no matter what year it is.
5GPH at 60mph is 12mpg. I'm lucky to get that on the highway in either one of my SUVs, and one of em is also DFI.> Stainless steel Merc cowling plates - $110 shipped TYD - LINK <
