Renegade Prop on Mercury small shaft

    Hey guys,
I hear of people running the OMC Renegade Props on Mercury engines.
I have a standard small shaft 3.0L gearbox and want to trial a 25" Renegade prop but it has no provision to positively lock it onto the shaft (requires split pin). What is everyone doing, modifying the prop, or just relying on the Mercury Nyloc nut to hold it on with a plain washer under it? Thanks again

Two nuts would be a quick solution. Might have to make one shorter. Looks like you have room though.

why not just get a large castellated nut and then drill tiny hole for a split pin ?
then you always have a fail safe even with a merc nut.

I always drilled for a split pin on shafts that did not have them for extra safety, might be over the top but its cheap insurance and
not weakening anything that would be needed.

    just a thought.

Thanks, I think I'll double nut it for today (kind of embarrassed that I didn't think of that!) and look to drill the shaft if I continue to run the prop. thanks again
