Not funny after you spent a week sanding and filling and more long boarding and repeating this over and over for days !
As the project manager and spent many hours sanding alongside and with the guys !These jobs are for everyone even the office lady came to spend a while sanding each day .
THE Korean BOAT we had 8 foot long Longboards and 4 guys on each board ! each coat of filler was a different colour after a week of put it on and sand it off we then got into hi build 2 pot undercoats and 120 grit sand paper and each day a different colour ! so 14 days of sanding X 4 people X16 hours a day and then a gloss coat to then look for any kinds of imperfections and then wet a dry 320 grit on long boards with 4 people on each board !!, Last coat was duratech and 800 wet sand then 1200 wet sand and polish 16 hours a day, 7 days a week and everyone in the factory took turns with the long boards ! after buff, cut ,and polish and final inspection was time for waxing and PVA release agent then sprayed with tooling gel!! And that was just for a 36 foot racing yacht hull ! we ran the deck along side and same thing with that and gel coated and glassed them one after the other but at the same time !. That will give you some idea of what goes on just to produce a mold !!
!!And all that was not even half way towards producing the first of 8 identical boats !Last edited by tunnels; 03-20-2017 at 05:23 AM.
Messing round with boats is fun !! the learning never stops ,even after more than 30 years there's always something new happening somewhere ! BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!
