Kiekhaefer AeroMarine Throttle/Shift Quadrants - Rare -
Here's a set of triple throttles manufactured by Kiekhaefer AeroMarine in the 70's to early 80's, that are quite rare these days. This particular set was three throttle sticks, but were also available in slightly shorter sticks, to be utilized as shifters. The plates & throttles(or shifters) could be stacked in any combination of numbers, as separate throttles & shifts, or all together. Excellent simple design that could take the abuse of offshore. These were the original units that other manufacturers copied in the following years, in various forms. These currently are listed on E-Bay, so these images won't be visible long.

I think Kiekhaefer Aeromarine was formed when they made drones. I found the pieces of one of these V4's at the 29 Palms Artillery range in 1967..

In "Iron Fist", it says "Carl formed a new corporation in 1946 when he purchased the Corium Farms property, Kiekhaefer Aeromarine Motors, which was placed on the books as an affiliate."

The Magic of the Internet---
This is what I was thinking of, Butch---My first 44" gearshift Mercury came with KAMINC controls
Fuji's post is probably a hand made prototype for Fred's 'Zero Effort' control
I came face to face with K. A. M. in November, 1970
My life has never been the same-----

I have picture of a Cigarette race boat from the '70's w/their logo on the hull.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Thank you for posting Fujimo, I love items like this. No matter how fancy and high-tech contemporary components are, I always found that the classic high performance components have a more serious personality to them. It looks like they were as much about craftsmanship as function.

Gene, these were not prototype controls. These were sold for quite a few years from Kiekhaefer AeroMarine. In the offshore circles, they were very popular & on a lot of race boats & offshore pleasure boats, all multi-engine of course. Both inboard & outboard use. Saw many on the Florida boats, especially. They were in the KAM catalog for quite a while. You just don't see them, of course, any more. Especially in this "like new" condition. That's why I posted them. The cables exit or enter out of either end. Your choice. They were usually mounted intregal to the custom stand-up race bolsters of the day. Throttle sets in one location, shift sets in another. They were very simple to install. Simply sandwiched between two pieces of the upholstery's plywood frame. I believe they were still available as late as 1983 or so.
