Merc Trouble!
So I take a 2006 225 proxs put on 250 xs heads and 250 xs pcm all off of 2007.. Tach follows self test when key is turned on..I put on all the coils and the motor harness from the 2007 250xs and check all the part numbers like the crank sensor tps air injectors ect ...all of them are the same and I get no throttle it will idle but the tach goes to about 5k at a idle and it has no throttle just as if your opening up the butterfly but getting no spark advance or fuel ..my key harness is the 8 pin to 14 pin with the jumper..Im thinking the only thing left is the motor harness..any Ideas?
Thanks

Whats the jumper? Are u using a mercury adapter harness? Have rerigged a number of these in the shop and have never used a "jumper". Just curious.

Yes the jumper is a 8 pin to 14 pin there pretty common but Im wondering if that is what is going on?...Do you think that might be the problem? ..It goes at the motor end where the 8 pin merc harness has to jump to the 14 pin opti connector

ok you said 8 to 14 WITH the jumper, like the jumper was something else. Just a misunderstanding. I would start with spreading the 8 pin connectors a little with a sharp knife to make sure when plugged in they make good contact.

Yes I agree I did that and then when you put the 06 225 pro xs motor harness and coils and ecm back on everything is fine ....put on 250 xs motor harness .....coils....ecm ...thats when it idles but will not power up and the tach is acting crazy ....so thats why I was thinking that maybe the key harness wont jive with the newer ecm??...does that even sound rite to you?....it acts so much like a ground problem its not funny but when you go back to 06 set up there is no problem so if its ground its in the way the key harness is wired I was thinking but I was sure hoping maybe you had another Idea..Thanks for trylng to help me!!!
