It looks like this boat had no core under the floor and that is how the performance boat shop down the street said to do it...?

Yip a core is not necessary and in a boat that size really is a waste of time ! knowing what is actually there is pretty hit and miss as well, I asked this question some time ago and no one could tell me and even asking the actual hull thickness and that was all guesses . But if you worried about the hull flexing don't !! Because it flexes give's it lots more strength ! make sense ??
Messing round with boats is fun !! the learning never stops ,even after more than 30 years there's always something new happening somewhere ! BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!

Between the stringers there is core under that skin of glass too. That all needs to be removed and the wood block the drain plug goes through too. Under the bow if your careful and patient you can cut the foot rest and airbox out carefully with a sawzall and save it to reinstall. Much of the core under there will be mush. As much being that you are planning a rough water adventure with it just follow the core pattern and glass the air box back in or at the very minimum two bulkheads. Because if and when you stuff the thing at any kind of speed into a wave it will crush the bow in and break it free from the deck if not properly reinforced.

All hydrostreams have some amount of balsa core, capt. Insano has pulled many of these small streams apart, he knows exactly where they need the support of core material, and where you can get away with less,to lighten them up.

Use a dehumidifier under a sheet of plastic to completely cover the hull tape it down across the deck opening !! Its sucks out all the moisture from everywhere as in totally !! when the tank doesn't collect any more water the BOAT is dry as in completely every where ! from end to end even under the deck !

Yes, someone did give the hull thickness under the cored area on a V-King......ME . post #65

    http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...material/page5

10mm average hull thickness under the core. I drilled a few sample holes in mine with 1/16" drill bit.

Also the flex thing might be OK in a slower boat that never airs out or runs on a pad.

A sudden flex in a boat hull coming off a pad, or chine walking and flexing the wet part, even a prop blowing out and the bow drops to quick flexing somewhere that gets wet, could make a bad situation worse. jmo

Maybe in a fishing boat pounding waves it might soften the ride some, and allow for the flexing a small amount to keep it from cracking. Not sure about in that scenario.
