27' Eliminator Daytona Outboard For Sale

Well it’s the New Year, and I have decided to put the Eliminator up for sale. My explanation as to why is covered in a prior post called “Thinking Of Selling The Eliminator” under the wanted section.

    · 1988 27’ Eliminator Daytona I am the second owner, and I have owned her for 24 years. 660 total hrs. I love the boat, and love the fact it has a cabin with two love seats that seat four, and a bed, pretty much unheard of anymore in a Cat this size. Plenty of freeboard, and with a 9’ beam, plenty of room to move around with no consoles/controls in the way. And yes, you can even lay out in the sun on the back seat, or the back hatch! The topside has been professionally clear coated with Awlgrip, so its nice and shiny with no worries about oxidation. Plus full cover, cockpit cover, motor covers, nice sound system, Autometer gauges, and new fire extinguishers, with all safety equipment included. Diehard batteries are just a few seasons old. The interior is totally original as it came from Eliminator, less the back seat bottom that I sent to Eliminator to be redone.

    · Motors are matching .020 over Johnson 3.6 GTs mildly built by Gordon at Monty Racing to run on 91 octane, and still oil injected with the latest, greatest VRO pumps. The port motor has approx 50 total hrs, and the starboard approx 60, as it was done the year prior.

    ·
Triple axle Competitive trailer with brand new BFG tires, and American Racing Wheels. Tires still have all the nubs! New inner fender skirts, LED tail lights, winch, Bearing Buddies, safety cables etc.

    · Props are 14 ½” X 32” Mercury Racing Pro ETs lab finished by Hering. Also comes with a spare standard rotation prop lab finished by Mercury Racing.

    · Also included are a ton of spare parts. 6 gearcases (and 6 stands!), two rebuilt ready to go for spares (although with what I have learned over the years, I haven’t even had one off the boat since the start of the 11’ season, other than to repair a cavitation plate taken out by a Merc lab finished Pro ET that flung a blade). One gearcase is brand new (not rebuilt) and never even noseconed! I have a nearly complete spare engine that I am pretty sure could be rebuilt that comes with. Also the actual two last extra long driveshafts that OMC/BRP had in their old stock, that have been shortened to long shaft by Bobs Machine Shop, plus more. $39995 for everything.

Probably a lot I am forgetting since I am writing this with a case of the flu. Check out my S&F album for pics, or these links for some videos.

    Hi,

I'm not sure if you looked at my album yet, but there are some showing the deck, port side, and one showing the dash, and one of the cabin. The boat is packed away for the winter under a low carport, but I can get into it (just barely) and I can open the hatch about a foot, but might not make for a good pic. My fever from the flu just broke, and its cold out (as you probably know), so I will dig around thru pics tonight and see what I can find. If I can't come up with any good ones (I know I have tons, they are just all over on CD's and a portable hard drive, but not organized!), I will climb in there tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I am finding some better ones. Still looking for under the hatch though, but I am sure I have some. I take way too many pics, and there lies the problem! I should have some more posted soon.

I just got thru the entire portable hard drive and posted all that I found in my album. There is one that at least shows the hatch open, but the girls like to pee in there (in the bucket! lol), so that pic doesn't show much. It might be easier for the sick old man just to climb in there tomorrow, rather than starting on the 9" pile of CDs and DVDs! It is pretty roomy (as you can see, or even pee!), and there are two huge transom gussets, two batteries, and two oil tanks.

Thanks! I love everything about the boat. Guess that's why I had it for 24 years! I thought of selling it three or four years ago to get one last "new" boat before I retired. Then decided to keep it forever. That is, until I switched insurance companies and lost the umbrella coverage, then started getting jacked around by the marina on the moorage.

They are just the OEM gearcases noseconed by Bob's. The trick I found is to use the latest 93'-95 style with the larger propshaft and carrier. Then after making sure the carrier has all three O-ring grooves (some only had one, probably thanks to the bean counters!) I use three diff size O-rings, because the grooves are three diff sizes. And I use better O-ring, and a tougher durometer. I use Aflas material, and I think they are 80 durometer. Then carefully shim the retainers to make sure the bolts will actually hold the carrier tight. Slight design issue here! The old style you just kept tight and the carrier would be tight, not so with these! Then keep the props nice and tight and use Mercury High Performance gear lube. Now they last forever! I think the 4 blade props help too when you are running them surfacing. The only thing I have been wanting to do but never have is venting them to atmosphere under the cowl.
