Laser 2 prop on a Johnson?

With help from this forum I have to find a prop with high pitch... But it seems to be hard to find a prop that have a high pitch for an omc motor. mercury have the laser prop with 26" pitch (Mercury Laser II 13 1/5 26"
    48-16996A46)

Is this prop possible to mount on my Johnson 70hk?

I've tried to find out but I am a little bit confused if the prop is for the V6 engines or if it has the same shaft length as the 3cyl old Johnsons?

    The Johnson is a 70hk 1986 with 13 splines and 96mm exhaust.

Offcourse I understand that the hub has to be changed an maybe the prop turned in order to have the 96mm exhaust but the question is if it's the only thing that has to be done?

ID:	364132I have a 1985 115 HP Johnson with the 13 spline prop shaft. The Laser II would not fit on the Johnson since the prop hub was too large in diameter. Quicksilver made the Lightspeed version of the Laser II prop for OMC motors, which had a smaller hub that fit the Johnson gear case. I ran a 22" Lightspeed against a 22" OMC Raker on the same day, and the Raker was much faster. The small hub Rakers come in pitches up to 24 inches. I would suggest buying a 24" Raker and seeing if at wide open throttle you are within acceptable RPMs. If you need more pitch, have a prop shop add one more inch of pitch.

I have a 24 Raker that I no longer need. Other options are re-hubbed small ear choppers and something custom from Ron Hill. I have run a couple of small ear choppers on my V4s. I borrowed a 27 Hill copy of a Hoss and it was fast, but too much pitch.

there are also a pair 26&28, of Mazco's for sale in the prop section here.

Thanks for the replay! Thats exactly was confusing me. Did you have the 13 3/4 22" laser 2 prop?, from what I've can see it seems to be two different ones. And the turning point hubs should be interchangeable with the flow torq?! http://www.kirschbaum.at/ki_prop/pdf...ry_mariner.pdf

ID:	364293 The Laser II prop had to be modified by Mercury Quicksilver because the diameter was to big. You can see how the end of the prop is machined down so that is fits inside the Johnson gear housing. The prop model for the 22" is QS5142H. I believe a 24" would be QS5144H. Those numbers have been superseded, but you should be able to cross reference them. The universal hub kit number is a QS Flo-Torq II Kit 8355266Q1

Ok thanks! Now I think I understand
There is a Raker 24" on Ebay right now but according to calculations I would need at least 26"...

Need to have the 24 re-pitched. Believe that's as tall as they come for that gearcase.

Fwiw the Lightspeed/Laser ain't a horrible prop. Gotta heckuva lotta bow lift. Just not as fast as a Raker. Or better yet: SRX.

This is an early Raker. (Non flo-torque.) 24 that was re-pitched to 26.

Mine's hubbed for OMC, but newer models are flo-torque. And the "HO" ... version has adjustable vents.

Far as I know it doesn't matter whose name's on the hub/insert kit. Michigan Wheel makes em as well. Call them XHS, for "exchangeable hub system". (Sounds more important than flo-torque ...)

what prop have you tried ?
what rpm did you get from it? , and on what boat ? .
by the size of hub you have you have a club foot 2.42 ratio same as mine, your motor is obviously the Bridgeport 56 .
