    '91 XR4 150, where do I start

    Hi All-

Four years ago I grabbed up a Kingfisher with an XR4 150 hangin on the back. I intended to get it onto a 93 Stratos 274 right away but life & procrastination got in the way. Anyhow, I'm gonna mount it this year.

I hear from a buddy these ol' XR4 2.4's are Bridgeports with more insulation in the cowl. Any thoughts?
One ol' time I know said the XR4 150's were good for 167-ish but he never noted Bridgeport.

I still intend to mount it on the 274, replacing the 125 installed now.

What to look out for, things to anticipate, other? I heard to warm it for 15 minutes plus before stomping on it.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate any comments.

    Karl

It's a 2.4 litre 150. Nothing bridgeport about it. Good motor. Delete oil injection and run good gas thru it you'll be fine.

    LOL! Bass boaters

Good idea to remove the oil injection as rock stated and make sure no one has modified the stock cooling system. Water doesn't get cold enough in Texas to make that thing take longer to get warm than the time it takes to idle away from the boat ramp. People seem to think they're better cooling system engineers than Mercury Marine and screw with these things all the time.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, us bass guys are generally just interested in gettin 5 by 3 & haulin ass back to weigh-in
I was doubting my buddy as all bridgeports I've seen proudly wore the orange/yellow graphics. Couldn't hurt to ask some gurus though!
The oiler was deleted when I got the motor, though I wanna go through & make sure they didn't leave parts they shouldn't have. I'll get back here with y'all to check my work.
The upper has all the stock insulation & pull rope AFIK, I'll double check in daylight.

I had thoughts of replacing the factory reeds with composite ones as I don't know the history on this motor & would hate to suck a broken metal petal. Thoughts on that?

    Thanks mucho
