    More power

I have a 96 mariner mag 2.5l 200 HP. Is there any mods I can do get 225 or 250 HP out of it? Is there a 225 or 250 2.5l powerhead that I can bolt on? Any help and advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Has anyone tried the Dyno-Boost performance chip? Or is it just B's. I would like to just swap powerheads I just don't know what years will fit. But if I had to rebuild the 2.5l block, where can I get good aftermarket/performance parts. Thanks

What kind of boat and how do you use it. Above advice is spot on.

Well that's part of what I am asking. What years powerheads in the 225hp through 250 HP range will fit my 2.5l. correct me if I am wrong but 3.0l powerheads will not fit on a 2.5l right? I don't want to get another hole engine, I just replaced everything in my lower unit. Any help will be appreciated

Any 2.5 of any HP rating,as long as its not a sportjet will work on your mid, if you have the proper plate for it.But unless you do ALL of your own work, and are knowledgeable stick with a 225PM! Ya, you can find a little more power here and there, but time, cost,& effort IMO makes anything else a poor choice.

Ok so I can put any 2.5l 225 HP powerhead on my mid, then I will find a powerhead and maybe do an exhaust tuner. I hope the gains will be highly noticeable over my 200. Thanks for the help and information.

The 225 Promax has to be one of Mercury's brightest spots. Very dependable and a very noticeable difference from a stock 200 and ideal for your application. Good luck and be safe.

The exhaust adapter ports on your 200 will be a little smaller than what came on a 225 promax, and the tuner is different too. Unless you are trying to race it won't hurt you that bad. I ran a 225 promax on a 200 adapter plate and tuner for quite a while, it would still spin over 7400 easily.

For or everylast bit of top end change the adapter plate to a 225 promax one and tuner but fishing on your nitro I doubt you'll be able to tell any difference.

A 225 promax actually makes 247-249hp from those that have dynoed stock ones.

I think you can grind out the adapter to accommodate the larger exhaust passage of the PM, at least that is what I did. Took a little time and patience as I didn't have an air compressor to use my 'proper' tools so I was stuck with my 18v DeWalt drill and a couple rotary burrs.

Yeah, just match the ports in the top plate and your there...the 200 and 225 tuner is actually the same when using the 2 pc adapter.

260/drag electronics, good reeds and add some compression to it. That will wake up a stock 200.
