Mercury Racing Max5 propeller
Hi!
How is the bow lift and the possibility to run high compared to REV4, 4bl Turbo TXP and 4bl Blaster?
I have bought a 400R and need to run the gearcase much higher than the 350 sci HD version.
Thanks
Cheeers! Toffen

While I don't have a 400R, that prop is made solely for that engine with its Sportmaster lower unit. I have always run my Sportmasters with the prop shaft even with the hull running surface. You can start there and experiment with height to see how it affects your boats handling. Just make sure to watch water pressure if you raise it higher. My 300XSs maintain 20 psi while running at higher speeds (over 50 mph). I run BBlades Bravo 1s.

they expanded the MAXIMUS line and renamed it for the OB use.. but its pretty much designed like the 600SC short hub maximus ... they may have done a few things to swing it with the 400R but it looks like they simply expanded the pitch range and shaved diameter from 15.3 to 15.. all other specs match the 2015-2016 maximus specs
i suspect its gunna run equal heights to what a bravo or other agressive full hub will in terms of engine height
id be interested to see what a 15" 5 blade would do on a fast fishing boat that carries more weight forward like a 21 ft walleye boat with big HP because im swinging a higher diameter 4 bl than the 15x23 max5 is and getting GREAT results in the mid and upper mid RPMS from a 15.625X4 blade in 23P on my opti.. 67.9mph at 5600 with a low rev limit that hits HARD at 5750 from a modded 225 and the best ive seen was with a 250 high limit against the limiter at 72.1 at 6400 with a 23P tempest... and there is 600 more lbs in the boat now than there was when it ran 72.1...Last edited by 150aintenuff; 01-10-2017 at 01:52 AM.
