Lake Mead--Las Vegas
Just received orders to move to Nellis AFB, Las Vegas in July. My questions are this: I know lake mead is about 30-45 minutes from the base, but is it a rough water lake? Is it worth me dragging my Allison up there or should I look to purchase a run around boat to use while I'm there(2 yrs and I will be retirement eligible). Is there anyone one on here from the area that wouldn't mind showing a new guy around?

Thanks for the info fella's! I will be going out there in late Feb(19-24) to check it all out, scout a place to move(places not to move) etc. If anyone lives close by, I would be willing to buy some drinks if you wouldn't mind meeting up and filling me in on the lake. I plan on driving down to take a look at it.

Bring it. Mead can get mean, but if the wind is down or not out of the South, it's not bad. You can also drive a little further and put in at Willow Beach, which is Lake Mohave, and run the river. That's where we test the Stoker race boat and run the STV's hard mainly.
