OK, maybe a new Hot Rod ...
Well, new to me. Older boat. 16' Marlin. Dunno anything about them. Looks like a knock off from ...
Have untested 140HP cross-flow JonnyRude to go on it. Has compression and came off a burnt boat for $300...
Have not actually seen the boat yet. Boat buddy went with his son and got it semi-locally for $260 with two trailers ...
He knows stuff and says it's sound Upholstery is decent.
Hoping to get into the Mile-O-Minute club this summer

Great ski boats, but I think that log splitter might have a hard time getting to 60.

That's my bud's yard. We'll have to find a better spot. It's just where he backed it in by the wood pile ...
But it does look like a tower of some kind of power
This is in addition to his sterndrive Tahiti and my Glasspar outboard. They are the kid and grand-kid haulers
This will be mostly for him and me, a few hard lemonades and just going ... If we get ballsy, we'll run down the Petaluma river and out into San Pablo Bay which can kick up a decent chop, so no flatties this timeLast edited by brocluno; 10-29-2016 at 06:58 PM.

Is the Marlin a flatty or does it have a V or even a pad? She sure is purdy from this side! Lookin forward to watching you rig her. I am a 140 OMC fan due to the power to weight ratio (have had a couple) and that parts are plentiful. Gary

Looks good, what does the bottom look like. That other one with the Chrysler looked super too. What's the weight?

Agree all here. Friends had Marlins long ago, no prob. But yep, pix the hull, need the weight, and good chance join the MAM club with a 140.

Boats like that on the cheap are awesome. It's always nice to have a beater around.

I'll get more pics when I'm back closer to home. Maybe next Wed or so. I think it's too early for a real "Pad".
The CL add did not show the stern, so we rolled the dice... Chris owns a crane, so if we need to flip it to add a Pad, so be it. Likely we'll see what we can do w/o it in the beginning. We'll be semi-cautious on set-up and just sneak up on the speed. That'll be half the fun. Having days where we can blast around trying stuff
I just asked my bud (Chris) to do this because the price was so good. When they get down that low, they usually move along ...
I was eye-balling a Schuster in Sacramento on a trailer (decent) w/o motor for $800 - but no seats, needed floor work, etc. And that's a whole day for us to go get it

I was a little p'off at that seller. He never got back to me...
I thought that was a good hull too (bottom profile). I would have literally crated that Chrysler and shipped it to Tunnel for grins
I guess I asked the wrong questions like "soft floors" etc., and he did not want to discuss...
Chris says this one seems solid all the way through

Yeah, my BIL says it's the new pulse power system. It's all in the operator timing

Transom as requested ...
Classic Glastron corners
At least it's not a curved transom ...
So what I dug up on Marlin (west coast) was they were built in White City Oregon. Apparently they splashed a number of hulls including the the Whaler Montauk. Only they made some mods and improvements. They have a reputation for good craftsmanship and overbuilding the hull (that could be good (strong) and bad (weight) ...). Prolly so they could take the river bars and ocean surf up that way. It can get rough on some Oregon rivers and the coast is no joke ...
They were in business from like 1973 to 1993, when they filed for bankruptcy. Some of their molds went to Reinel and a few other companies. This stuff just keeps perpetuating itselfLast edited by brocluno; 11-03-2016 at 11:12 PM.
