On this..." I just caught in the manual saying not to leave it on while unattended"

Thats standard lawyer speak for liability. Seen it on desk lamps ferchrisssakes! There has to be some overheat cutoff on it, or never get certified I would imagine. Suggest what Gary said too. "You may want to test it out without the fan to be sure it DOES shut down" ..or just see what will happen. Glad ya got a warm butt again! Damn, been cold here few weeks now like highs of low 30's! Woodstove shop, house furnace (electric) getting a work out. Say back to 50's next week though!

    Bit of an update:

As of now it's working great and I love it.

I leave the t stat set at 50* over night so it's not so nasty when I punch in in the morning.
Then I set it to 60 - 65, depending what I'm working on and use the torpedo heater to help bring it up to temp.
If it's 20's outside, they both run maybe 5 mins.
I then shut off the torpedo for the rest of the day and maintain w/the electric heater.

Now w/2 months of electric bills to compare to last year, similar temps, I'm spending about $80 per, to
heat 1800 sq ft w/13' cowlings.
Probably another $30 in diesel for the torpedo.

    Im happy w/that.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Gary I would be VERY happy with that since you have about 0 maintaince with the electric heat and NO storage of fuel which can become a PITA!!!! Gary

I would also think that a diesel fired torpedo would literally only require two fill ups a season

It's 125K BTU and likes fuel.

I run it on days like today when I'm glassing and have ventilation going.
Have one of these in opposite ends of shop.
    One intake, one exhaust.

Like this heater so much I think I’m going to buy one for the new shop.

    Same issues as old shop:

No gas/propane to it and not setting a second tank.

Limited power said supplied from house panel.

    The good:

This barn is 2’ narrower so less to heat.

    Sealed up even better.

Rereading this thread where old shop would stay +10* above ambient w/no heat over night, this one is staying +20.

I prewired it for ceiling fans too so that will help a bunch.

Menards has their 11% rebate through tomorrow 😉

I bought and installed a gas heater from Menard's this summer, before winter pricing.
We already have a 125 gal propane tank for the fireplace and the stove, so decided on propane. Bought an extended warranty with it...Arrived damaged, took pics and called them and sent the pictures to them. They sent out a new one right away....Told me to toss the old one .....

Have been using it the past week or so....Nice, should have done this years ago.
    And have "spare parts"
    James H. W2F a V-King... Want 2 Fly a V-King

Turned off the A/C in the garage today for the first time. Summer temps would just not go away. Set a few high temp records lately, for this time of year with feels like temps still in the 90's. Finally got our first cold front today. Highs in the high 70's. Go'n back up into the 80's tomorrow. It was nice for a change.
