No way it would keep up w/o.

Experiment now is to leave it at 50 over night so I don't have initial start up load/run time.
Ill be watching my elec bills and comparing to previous yrs.

    I'll look.

Checked it this morning and w/15* ambient, thermostat set at 50*, it turns on every 15 mins on the low side, runs 5 mins and shuts off.

    Im liking that.
Was nice walking into a 50* shop too with 15* outside.

Did you do the elec hook up? I'm a dufass house electrical, but have 150 main panel house. House all electric..heat, stove, dryer water heater. When I bought the house here, the shop was a stick built and unfinished. I insulated, rocked, etc, and had a friend on a friend wire it up off the house panel which told me my panel could run 2 houses and mine aint that big, shop more important. Ran 110 everwhere, and a 220 line out (2 50 Amp switched breaker) and 3 wire out to shop and 2 plugs for the welders.
Question is is that heater a simple hook 3 wire and power like I have? Getting tired messing with wood, have a forced air Propane wall but no "bottle outside" for fuel so that would cost money.
Glad it worked ferya! I'll have to look into it!

Robbie, Yes wired it myself. Simple. Two hot leads going to a 70 amp breaker and one ground that's it you're done.

Both on the same side, one breaker? Two sides feeding the 70.

Few years ago they installed "smart meters" here. You can sign into your hydro account and see you usage at any time, daily, monthly, or hourly.

That's actually a great idea. We have a smart meter as well. I'll see how far I can dive into my account online.

OK, now I know a bit more. My house furnace is 90 amp each side double breaker (well, all 220/240 are double breakers in tandem) and 70 amp the electric stove, 50 for the welders. I'll have to look into it (simple switch the 50's to 70's but I"ll ask on the GJB to elec wizzes there) Thanks!

    Don't buy one of these.

Mine ran for two weeks (perfectly) before the blower motor went out! Called King electric in Seattle, the manufacturer, semi-knowledgeable tech guy said he would send me a replacement motor no problem. Week and a half later I got it and he sent me the freaking wrong one!

Call them again and it went into voicemail. left him a message did not hear back all day.

Called Menards where I bought it from they said call the manufacture. They did say to call them back if I didn't get satisfaction. So after several more attempts I got a live body on the phone at King electric and says he'll get one right out and apologize for the problems. I pushed on his definition of expedited and he said it was late to get it in the days mail.
It is now been three business days after his expedited shipment and no blower motor.

When the blower motor went out on the electric one the heating elements remained on. I could smell them getting hot. If I Hatten been in the shop when it happened it probably would've overheated and caught fire without kicking the breaker and burn my shop down!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
