Is a 2002 Mercury 250efi Powerhead the same as optimax?

Just wondering if the Powerheads are the same? Basically looking at buying a Powerhead I blew my 2002 Mercury 250 efi. I've seen a lot of optimax Powerheads for sale. As long as the compression checks out are the optimax the same as in can i put on my electrical accessories etc and be the same as the efi or no? Thanks for any help.

#1 piston rod cap bolts broke in half looked like from lack of lubrication. On number 6 here is a picture the piston. Does anyone know what causes this? Overheating? On the other side of the end cap there is nothing it looks good.

Don't rebuild that crank just find a used one. The repairs always fail. A used crank for that should run $500-$600. They are pretty easy to find. Repairing one cost about the same....

. Port timing is totally different, as well as the pistons. Op should just get a used crank and fix what he's got. I just picked up a used crank yesterday for 300$

I have a 250 opti block and a 250 down draft efi block ports are identical save for the oil drain back in the sleeve on the opti block which are below the rings an uneffect the actual running compression area pistons yes different for the fuel system but BLOCKS themselves are same
