New guy with 23 Cougar MTR
Hey all new guy here from AZ. Just picked up a 23 Cougar MTR with twins. New to this outboard thing so I could use a little education. When I get a chance I plan on doing a bunch of reading just to get the jist of how these things operate but for now I need some basics. Tune up tips and intervals, what oil to use for the drive and the injection, things to be aware of.
Engines are 200 Optimax ROS engines.
Getting ready to head down to the lower river for the maiden voyage tomorrow. Should be fun.
Thanks,
Tracy

I left Dale a PM and haven't heard from him so I wasn't sure if he was still around.

Take the 200s off when you get board and put 280s on it haha. Mine had 280s with 4 inches of set back ran 30 mazco re3s which were great. Merc ets were the best on the boat. Cleavers when running big numbers. The mazco and ets have alot better punch to 100mph.

Also does yours have low water pick ups and hydralic jack plates? That's a big plus for the boat.

It has the Sportmaster drives so yes on the low water pickups, but no hydraulic jack plates. I'm not a speed junky so the Optis will stay. Pretty sure at this point some different props will be put on as well.
I would just like to know how the batteries are wired, is the Merc monitor set up for both engines and why he went with the Garmin....
