Chaz, I appriciatte your notmally well thought out and expert advise, but in this case I must respectfully disagree. While stylish as led's are these days that does not look substantial enough of a design to work as a helo rotor linkage.

However the flashing lights going around in circles for a few seconds would be pretty.

Heres a set of wings and Arms I did for George Fullers Drag boat. Yes they are 3/8" and 6061-T6. 6061 comes in two forms Annealed or Tempered. When using 6061 in a load or high stress application make sure you use T6 (Tempered). If done correctly weight can be removed safely. Key is make sure there are no rough edges sharp corners and everything is smoothed. If not a crack can develop. The Pivot Pin Holes were opened up and Extreme-Load Dry-Running Sleeve Bearings installed to eliminate wear or wallowing. 316 SS shoulder bolts were installed in lieu of regular SS bolts.

I know 6061t6 is what most people use for projects but if no welding is going to be done on the part there are alloys that are way stronger... 6061 is not used in aircraft structure anywhere, they use mostly 2024t3 which is quite abit stronger than 6061 and 7050t6 or 7075t6 both of which are almost double the strength of 6061. I know its hard to find in big angle for jack plates and stuff but bar and plate remnants are all over ebay. I rarely use 6061 the harder alloys machine way better and thread much cleaner. For corrosion the 6061 is better, both of the 70 series aircraft alloys need to be painted or they corrode bad around salt water. Dave

    Uncle Bud ,
I couldn't help but notice your also a fan of using a router bit for a nice radiused edge ..

    You mean I don't have to buy 12' planks or 4'x10's ...
I love it when people come in and say , I need to look thru your scrap's ... you just know their big spenders ...

Most everything I do is 5052 sheet or 6061 slab's that will eventually get welded .
If I'm going to have a run of parts made , I'll make one out of what I have and have our CNC guy call the shot on what he wants to use . That's really not my thing . I've been to enough places and seen a box of 50 or 100 parts go in the dumpster ..

Good day, I'd eventually want a right hand wing plate just like the 1 above. How much would one cost?

Thanks, With a little milling to clean up the bosses on the outer powerhead bolt holes on the adapter i'm sure you could come out from there.

Barry not really , The little links on the bracket tilt tube are 7075 and you can see in the pic they are slightly different, i had some other stuff done and the 7075 was even darker, i'm not too concerned just want the stronger alloys in some places and don't want to deal with paint. Dave

Hey chaz, what did you use to do at Prat????

    Beemer ,
    I'm not a Pratt - bratt ...

A lot of my friends have worked and still work there , Sikorski , Rocket Dyne , Turbo Combustors and Grumman or whatever they call it this week ... Very - very talented people , met most of them here in town at car shows , out on the river or across the street from Pratt at the old Moroso Motorsports park which is called Palm Beach International Raceway ... again .

    Dave ... your anodizing don't match ....
I have taken stuff to have done , them ******* cant get it the same from one day to the next ... Different shades I can live with , I swear , I got a load of red back one time that was as orange as it could be .... LOL Only time I ever sent it back ...
