Ski pylon setup
I'm looking to set up a ski pylon over my 77 Charger with outboard but have virtually nowhere to put it. Suggestions? I was thinking someone makes a bolt on the transom style of some sort. I don't want something on the floor with 30* supports arm as they take up too much space and are UGLY. Suggestions. Has a splash well or whatever you call em.

well I think you need to have a in the floor bracket and the strap collor that slips over the bow and ties to each rear corner if you
want to go with a high pylon.
these can be put up inside 5 minutes and are very strong.
Anything else will need to be bolted and be on there all the time and spoil the look of the boat.
or are you looking at something just a foot above the top of engine cowl ?
It is a very pretty boat , nice and sleek.

Thanks. Just something a foot above the engine. Not a full time ski boat, in fact, the boys are all gone and the skiing is very limited. My floor and stringers are new so the integrity of the floor to mount something isn't the issue, its those support arms take up too much space at the rear

I've just purchesed a 96 XRI and not sure if its got a higher cowl than the 77 175 Black Max in the photos. It sits on a fixed bracket raised about 3"

Do you know if that fabricated or a retail product. I have a piece of upholstery that is removable in front of the bilge bin

the pic above is simply a ski pole. sky lons are about 6ft or more from the floor of the boat, mainly for wake boards who like big air.
I thought you wanted something a lot higher.
ski poles are easy to find and unless the rear beam across the boat is re-enforced it will tear out and do a lot of damage.
most boats with these have a centre hole in the beam behind the seat with a stainless plate.
then the pole simply drops down through the plate and attaches to the floor by a single bolt on a plate with its own fittings..
all nice and simple.
This needs to be done real strong or it can be extremely dangerous.
the pole takes a lot of pressure when pulling someone up with a deep water start..

Custom made
Still missing that boat Karsten! Hope you are enjoying her.
The ski pole was custom made by a friend in his machine shop. It held up very well until I tried to pull two slalom and a tandem skier from off the pole at the same time. Once the stainless steel bent the first time, it seemed easier to bend after that. Never had a problem with skiers or wake boards solo, but if a tube submerged with a bigger rider it would bend as well.
The Taylor came from the factory with what looked like a "roll cage" with a ball on top to attach the rope. It was heavy, ugly and made it difficult to re-enter the boat from the transom. I couldn't find a picture of it.

Swivl Eze mounted around your motor well could work. I would not use one for tubing but we skied with one for years.
