Steady beep will put it in safe mode (gaurdian) and limit the RPM to about 2500. If it's not doing that, then there might be a wiring problem somewhere.

Force compressed air in the pee hole to clear the passage, you can also hook a temp gauge to the tan wire on the compressor to verify it is not the culprit

I had almost the exact same problem with my 2010 Sport XS 225 and if memory was correct it was a weak coil. The motor was under warranty at the time and Mercury changed all 6. I will see if i can find the paperwork and post EXACTLY what they changed... The alarm would come on at will and turn it on/off and it would reset.

Looks like your port coolant temp was out of range (hi/lo). The SmartCraft info displayed is the starboard sensor, but the PCM looks at both sensors for overheat. So, if you weren't going into EngineGuardian, it was most likely that the temp sensor itself lost connection internally/externally, or the connection at the harness was suspect, and when you removed and replaced you re-established connection.

If you haven't erased faults with a diagnostic tool, the Freeze Frame faults will still be there, and it will say what was causing the horn. Either way, if it was a bad sensor and you replaced it, or an intermittent coil fault, it would be in the Freeze Frame Buffer. There will also be a run time associated with each fault, so you can see how long ago the fault happened based on current run time. This can also be helpful in diagnosing faults. If you have someone clear the faults for you now, anything new in there will be the only thing that shows, for easier diagnosis.

Glad you got it fixed, hope it stays that way!

a shorted sensor will read high or low and not show on smartcraft, and set an alarm seen it on mine.. 90 degree block would send sensor to 170 and alarm, really easy to find with CDS diagnostics
