I would say call Eric Simon and inquire about an ecu flash. That should boost the power.
i think their is a little more to it than that.. rods are different, rod slots are different, im pretty sure the heads are different, ecu different. i haven't checked porting but i imagine it is also different like you say.i still not 100%sure of all the differences. i'm just starting to think about this project at this point and trying to collect as much information as i can on the differences between the 2 then i will start collecting parts and cutting metal..

You are correct there are differences but they are really small and really not worth doing. Just get the ecu reflashed. Not to 200xs ros. Eric has a better tune he's developed with a few of the racers in Europe.

i have the 2004 200xs and it doesnt have much more hp than the 200efi it replaced. to 2.5 xs was a 2.5 motor [opti] on a 3.0l lower unit. the 2.5xs was listed as 225 but the 245+ hp was the norm off a dyno. the 200xs was published as between 210 and 225. from my experienced with a 2004 200xs on a 20' HS voyager, i think the lower numbers are closer.

the 2.5xs was written up in this site.

where does a regular old 2.5 225x come into the picture, in comparison ?

There was a fair amount of overlap going on back then. The 2.5 225X EFI was built in 2002, 2003, and 2004 with less than half a dozen in '05. The 2.5XS making about 240hp was only 2005. The 2.5 200XS Opti Gen 1 which made about 210hp ran from 2002 to 2005 with less than a dozen built in '06.

    http://www.advancedsleeve.com/Docume...%20Catalog.pdf

now here's one for the masses to answer.. advanced sleeve for the exhaust port lists from the deck down 1.605". the apba spec for exhaust port height is 1.525" +/- 0.020" i assume they are measuring from piston TDC? not deck height? or does some of the height get smacked off when a sleeve is installed? i haven't checked the deck height on my block yet maybe it will all become more clear to me once that happens..

i found my vernier lol.. exhaust port height on my 175 is 1.610"
all the other port heights match the apba specs except the exhaust... IF they are measuring from the deck.. this i do not know..and that^ kinda made me wonder? HELP I NEED AN ADULT!!!!!
