Hydrostream Vulture Setup?
Hey guys,
Just bought a hydrostream Vulture hull and in process of recore. I wanted to find out some information on this hull's capability since there is so little out there. I bought the boat knowing it wasn't the fastest Stream out there, but plan to use it mostly for ski days and occasionally haul ass days. I would like to know some tech info on setback, top end with different power/props, and if this would be able to handle a 300xs as opposed to the planned power which as of now would be a 280. Also can things such as pushing the dash and seating back a little raise the bow a considerable enough amount to see any real gain in top end (from what material I have read the aerodynamics of this boat create an air pocket which pulls the bow down). I would like to see 90+ out of this boat, but not 100% sure if this is going to be easily attainable, thanks for any feedback guys.

I have often thought about the Vulture with a 300XS and 28p chopper. Would be a nice ride IMO . Won't out run a 280 2.5, but might be worth the loss of top end for the ease of operation and fuel savings. Mod the splashwell, and put the tank and batt in the very back and a lounge seat ahead of that. Buckets up front. Take some weight out of the bow and it might surprise you....

Yea, I'm going to see if there is anyone who has a similar setup with the 300xs who has some advice to offer on literal application. I am in the process of redesigning the dash and will be moving the front seating back quite a bit, I agree with the gas battery setup. I'm going to add extra transom support as well as beefed up stringers. So far this build is technically in it's infant stage, however the planning is a little further ahead. As any task I take on, there will be no lack of obsession for quality and customization. That being said, I am certainly always open to advice since this is how we truly learn most things in life, thanks for the support

I have a vulture that I just did the core, stringers (with knees tied to the transom), floor, and transom and decked over the splashwell and while I havent had it on the water yet, I will be running a 235 Evinrude with an offshore mid and a cone with a LWP on a 10 inch jack plate. I will have two batteries and the fuel tank in the back (16 gallon if I remember right) and I have a 6 inch hub extension on the steering wheel and have moved the seats back about 8 inches from where they would originally be to get the weight to the back of the boat as much as possible and going with just 2 buckets up front. I hope it does the job for me. I will find out this spring. Still have to get the steering taken care of. Need new cables for it. Wish I could tell you how it it all works for me but sadly, now that the season is coming to an end, I wont know until spring time.

I think I've seen that boat online as well as rebuild pics, congrats. It will be nice to see results from that. what's you're setback?
I am going to fab an extension for the dash to bring it back about 1 foot (give or take). the seats will be even further back since I have a long reach. I will def be decking over the splashwell and centering weight w/ batt.,gas, etc. I am building a slide system for the front bucket seats so that when operating alone I can center just one seat, in relation the steering wheel will be slightly offset of center to accommodate for either positioning. I'll get some pics up once I get a little further into the project. the boat is seperated and cap is off and sanded, in process of taking core out still. It's not going to be quick unfortunately due to work schedule but every extra hour goes into this boat and I love doing this stuff!
