Ya wimp! YA AINT DOING IT RIGHT! The days a of a button on the head for compression release on the head are gone, but any 500 rode (newer) has a slight bump on the cam that does not effect performance, but a easier kick.

What ya need to do is simple! Bet yer standing on left peg, and kick with the right leg only? WRONG! Kick it to compression, grab the bars, AND PUT ALL YOUR BODY WEIGHT ON THE KICKER, AND RUN IT THOUGHT BOTTOM! It will fire fast!.

How did I learn this? The comment on "Moto Boots" on to start? WRONG, as techniques work! I bought in 75 a friends 1974 CR250 Elsinore, on off switch motor 2 stroke. Raced Motos, as ice winter Ill Fox Chain. We were at the lake house and boots on could not get it fired? Winter. told me.. He comes out in MOCCASINS, and said.."yer doing it wrong". He kicked and instant fire!
Also on the coming 4 strokes soon replacing the 2S? Friend mine in the early 80's (?) bought a brand new Yammy 350, 4S street legal on/off roads "Enduro". He didn't have it long and only 5 miles on it! I took it for a ride, but so used to my Elsinore 2S that LEAPED when hitting the powerband. Known to me, so no big. BUT?
I "WOT" the throttle it (thinking do a burn out and even with knobbys?)............FAST WENT OVER AND A BIKE ON TOP ME SLIDING DOWN THE ROAD! IN first gear?
Billy said to me.."no big deal as someone has "break it in" Glad YOU, not ME!
2s motors are fun, but TORQUE a 4s? BITE YA!

to start, lean it over till gas comes out the over flow of the carb. Then kick through very slowly 4-5 times, no throttle and give it the big kick. I had several of them. Put on at least the right boot.

It floods it just a bit just like putting a little gas in the cylinder, works every time and when you kick it make sure you mean it or it will bite you.

My guess would be it enriches the engine. The extra fuel acts like a choke, iirc.

If thats the way, its needs a carb like the old Tillotsons on the Brit bikes, a "Tickler"! Push the button down to holds the float down and flood the carb!
