    vibration?

So the wife is out mowing the park and she comes in on foot and says her mower is broken. I asked what happens she says she has no clue it just made a loud pop and don't sound so good no more. I walked out back and started the mower and it sounded fine. Engaged the mower deck and it felt like it was going to throw me out of the seat. Took it to the shop and it did not take long to figure out what happened. Never seen a blade break before. Pop was blade trying to go thru side of deck.
Mower deck had been getting progressively louder and I had been thinking about an overhaul this winter. I am fortunate enough to have an extra deck with this thing and was able to swap out the spindle and now it sounds like new again. Looks like it ate not only the bearings but also damaged the housing. Grasshopper runs again.

My wife tears up the mower every time she cuts with it. Runs into trees, gets it stuck in ditches. Bends blades etc. I guess it's not a bad trade off, if it keeps her busy for an entire day. At least she ain't driving me crazy the WHOLE damn wknd.

I put all new belts & bearings on mine earlier this summer, did a nice job sharpening up the blades... and got lucky enough to find a huge 10mm allen wrench in the lawn with it the other day.

I have been told that a way a man shows he loves his wife in West Virginia is if he has a riding mower.

I have the same blades on my mower. Looks like you've sharpened that one a time or two. Looks like ya found the limit of re-sharpening those blades.

I've had problems with bearings wearing out on my spindles too. Installed some Timken bearings and so far so good.

Install some grease fitts and pack that spindle when sharpening the blades. Bearings will last until the jack shaft gets bent....My wife likes to mow, I do not. I would rather spend that time out in my Stream...Thank god, she hates the Stream, won't ride in it. You think a woman could be jealous of a boat? Had the Stream longer than her.
