Tuff 28 build thread

I am finally getting around to starting the build on the TUFF 28 that I got last April. It was a demo boat, but will be getting everything new! I am only using the bare hull. The first two pics are what I started with. The 3rd is with the decals removed. The 4th and 5th is me hanging the boat on digital scales. The total weight of the boat with full interior and carpeting was 2848 pounds.

Here's the boat after I sanded it all down. The yellow stripe is the original yellow stripe over navy blue gelcoat. Here is also what the original interior looks like. It will all get replaced with a PPI interior. All these monster gauges and the Lowrance GPS chart plotter are for sale for $700.

I am hoping to run at least 100 with 300XS motors. It ran 91 with 250's with no hydraulic jackplates.

Yup, from the looks of it, Randy's boat was an i/o too. I believe DirkPitt knows the low down.

Filled a few small imperfections and epoxy primed the boat today. Next I'll block it out and be ready for the first paint color.

Yup, stock illmor pump gas driven every weekend lake boat with zero changes for the run. Took purpose built race boats with a lot more power to run with it, one with 2200 hp. Both had major control issues.
That boat has been both a twin outboard and a single I/o. It was the demo.

Were you reading the values of the scales loaded on an angle as shown in the picture?

I blocked out all the primer yesterday and painted the black basecoat today. Next will come an orange pearl fade or maybe orange metalflake. I'll decide when the flake gets here tomorrow and I'll decide how much I like it!

I've been taping the last couple days. there will be an orange stripe which will fade from a yellow-gold pearl, to a darker orange pearl. There will be a small lime green stripe next to that.
