Suction side on impeller on merc lower ?

Witch side is the suction side on impeller to drill and tap fitting for low water pickup? ( 2.5 20" mid) thanks

Drill and tap lower from either side or both sides depending on the cones requirements. Remove water pump base and you will see where the water comes in. Drill directly above the intake holes and just below the water pump base. Once you are in there you will see.
