    2.4l 200 Merc

Hey guys, I have what appears to be a 1979-1985 200hp Merc. I think it is losing fuel pressure during wot. My question is, can I replace the onboard diaphram fuel pump with an electric in-line fuel pump? Benefits? Or waste of time? Thanks.

Before I put in an electric pump I would put a kit in the stock unit and see if that is really the problem. I have used electric and it works but is not ideal in my opinion.

...Times two. If that does not work, and you still think its not getting enough fuel, check the fuel line(s) & fittings for sucking air, and the fuel tank pickup tube/screen, etc. If you have a inline fuel filter, delete it, for testing purposes, use clean fuel of course.

I use to run a small electric pump (4.5 psi) to supply fuel to the stock pump, dont know if it was the best idea but it seemed to work fine. 2.4 merc. If anything listen to Rock, good guy and alot of knowledge.
