The basket case doesn't come with a mid so I can only guess that it was run with an extension. The 15" mid and lower I picked up is stock 1500 XS. I assumed the basketcase LWPU could be returned to a 15" setup by changing the studs. Here are some better shots of the basketcase lower.Click image for larger version.

Thanks Dale. When I get my hands on the motors, I'll let you know how mine are. If your units are good enough for Ken, they're good enough for me. Darrel

My wife and I are racking our brains to remember the shops name or even the town. I can go back to my ad when I sold the motor if this is something you would be interested it. Here's the pictures I took while there. BTW, He was a HS nut!!!
Ron, his name didn't happen to be George Adams ??? Where was his shop located at that time?
George was the local Hydrostream dealer until HS went toes up. I bought my '89 Viper new from him. He got one shipment a year. Helluva great guy. He raced OPC tunnels for many years.
His shop at that time was outside Bothell WA. It had a little showroom area for 3 boats, and a workshop. He had three 1500XS's the last time I saw him, and one he said he would never sell ('77, higher compression). That was many years ago.

He's have to be in his mid-late 60's at least, but I heard he was still working. He just really, really loved it. Sure sounds like the guy.

    Hi Barry,
Caprice says that info sounds correct. We are still unpacking and she says all the pictures should be on our external hard drive,.... where ever the hell that is....
I'll update when I can confirm.

I am not Ron, but the shop you are talking about was Runabouts Limited in Bothell, his name is Fredrick Adams, he went by "Fred" when he was selling boats and "Rick" when he was racing.
I bought my Vegas from him back in the late 80's and he is a great guy. The last heard is he had a small outboard repair shop in Anacortes.

"FRED", yep, that's it. Thank you. Shows where my memory has gone, right down the bowl. Good guy, I hope he's doing well.
Not to push his thread even farther afield, but is that your Vegas in the Seattle craigslist? Really sharp boat.

    Barry,

No that isn't mine, but I have had a hard time not going to look at it, ha ha. It is a total time capsule of the setup and rigging that Fred did in the 80's

Sorry if this became a hijack
