APBA Vintage outboard races Leonardtown MD

    Found FG forum.

Here are the large tunnel hulls.

Here are the 80 hp class, at least I think that's what they are. Smaller Allison's, checkmates, hydrostreams.

Here are the larger Allison's 18" I think.

Here are the smaller tunnel hulls. Great guy named Bill Edwards is driving the dark blue one with a 135 Chrysler with race pipes. Can hear him coming a mile away! lol

Here are the Larger Allison's on round 2

Watched the videos. Are they seriously speed limited at this event? Those boats were all faster than that.

Yep, slow to me too, but maybe as vintage, its mostly for fun and show off and don't blow it up! I don't know...

All they show are the parade laps. After two laps they can run at speed. The JP boats looked just like an OPC e entry from the past once they turned loose. But technically it is a demonstration, not a race......just sayin....
    It was a great weekend.

Thanks, as all short clips, that kinda gave me that idea. My brother raced "Sovern" Vintage car races all over the county, many diff rides, last 2 were a 57 Morgan, last 56 Alpha. Lunched a motor it and as 76 now, called it quits and sold, but still goes every where now as a Tech inspector. Yep, the do the show off parade laps, but do NOT think they like to race! They TRY not to "rub fenders", but in a race?
"Lead, follow, or get out my way"! Lotta fun with the great old iron!

He's living NorCal now, but has raced here many times! This isn't him, just a vid found and he loved open cockpits, roll bar and helmet .."in the wind"! Vid 2012

Sent that SOVERN vid to my brother and got this reply now..

Yah, I really miss vintage racing. But it was a very expensive hobby.

That video was my old buddy Butch Gilbert driving the Hageman Special, no one couild catch him until the Grim Reaper stepped up.

He was the leader from pole to pole in this video. The great races involved lead changes and scary passes

It was a great event. Too bad Ted had problems with both Wings so it was a Wingless Weekend on the water. At least they were there for display.

Great seeing old friends and making new ones.
