Help with con. rod
Hey can anyone tell me how to split open a new connecting rod. Is this something they should have done before shipping it to me?

What engine?? Most engines the rod cap bolts on but some connecting rods are solid and the crank must be pressed apart and back together.

The engine is a 1994 2.5L V-200 Mercury. The old connecting rods have the fracture split, the new one I just ordered does not.

Thanks as I was watching youtube video's and I don't own or have access to a press like that. I seamed excessive to expect an engine builder to have that kind of equipment. It will be going back Monday.

As interesting as it would be to have a rod like that hanging on the wall.... someone should at least get an arse-chewing for missing that!! I would hope it's someone in Malaysia and not Wisconsin.
