Bottom paint removal
I'm rebuilding a 1981 Glastron Carlson for my son, Ripped the floor out and had it replaced along with the transom. I would like to remove the old old old bottom paint. A lot came off with just a power washer but I'd like to remove the rest. Has anybody had any good luck with any chemical strippers? The gelcoat under the bottom paint seems in good condition. I figure I'll get my son to do it since it's is boat.

I've had very good luck with Captain Lee's Spra Strip removal. Can be done in a day. Spray it on let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wipes right off. Need lots of cheap white rags or some good strong shop paper towels.

I've had great results in the past with paint removers from home depot. Gets painted on like jelly and in about 2min it's crinkling up and comes off with a dull putty knife. Done a Boston whaler and an old sea ray with zero damage to gel

I believe the stuff Bodhi is talking about is Citrus Strip......Organic, no odor and will hot great as long as it is a warm day.....Wear Nitrile Glove and a face shield under the boat.

Thanks for the replies. The gelcoat under the bottom paint looks to be in good shape and the boat will always be on a trailer when not in use. I'll have my son do some work on it today. I drilled the transom last night for the backing plate and jack plate.
