    Portable Tach Question

I am installing one of those small tach's on my 225 Sport XS (2 stroke) to record operational hours. It has a wire that you wrap around one of the plug wires. Where the motor is a 6 cylinder I have a choice of several modes...

    1. 1P1R= 1 SPARK PER 1 REV
    2. 2P1R= 2 SPARK PER 1 REV
    3. 3P1R= 3 SPARK PER 1 REV
    4. 4P1R= 4 SPARK PER 1 REV
    5. 6P1R= 6 SPARK PER 1 REV
    6. 3P2R= 3 SPARK PER 2 REV
    7. 5P2R= 5 SPARK PER 2 REV
    8. 1P2R= 1 SPARK PER 2 REV

I am guessing either the 6P1R or the 1P2R... thoughts?

i installed a "Motominder" on my 260 at the last rebuild, dirt bike digital clock. wrapped the signal wire on #4 spark plug wire, double face taped it to the port side of the block, been there for 5 years. works great to log running hours, it was $35. bad thing is that i seem to put only 10 hours per year as it turned 50 total hours on the last outing !

Yes 1P1R, but i had one like that and had problems also, bought the tiny tach for 2 stroke only and works fine.

I purchased it for the hour meter but figured I might just as well see if rpm recall will work... it was set on 6P1R and the highest RPM after checking it was 1800... No way on a STV at 90+ MPH so I figured something was set incorrectly.
