Anyone interested in a central Florida race?

I have a few boats and I hate the fact that I can't just race the guy next to me. So a friend of mine did some research and got insurance and the correct permitting to host races in his local lake. I think I can scratch up some sponsor money but i need to know who is interested. My opinion is if it has a motor that runs and floats lets race and have fun. Please reply with what you have to race and when would be a good time. We are open to suggestions.

Sounds like a great plan, I'm down to bring the stream out. As far as a good time....I vote for when the weather gets a bit cooler

Fall or spring? How many other racers can you drum up? Any race suggestions?

Springs usually cooler, most people I boat with have fishin rigs but I'll see whos interested some of them are pretty quick. As far as racing, I don't really have any suggestions. Let's let this thread soak for awhile and see what ideas pop up

No dog in this but i think you would have a better turn out in the spring after a long winter lay off.

Biggest turnout might be with "run what you brung" racing, and keeping it informal is easiest for the organizers...Running start format? 20 boats run 2 at a time would get to the top 2 in a few hrs. Go straight , or in a circle. That way the fast guys boats would have to also be somewhat dependable. Depending on when, and where, I should be able to bring a running boat.....

December thru April is good weather for running for me. Too hot in the summer. Few guys from here in SW fla would show, few guys from the east coast might show. Tampa and the surrounding area guys might show. How many Pine Isl guys? Just throw it out and see who is up for it. Costs to play and places to stay make a difference also. Let some guys chime in with a little discussion and see what comes of it. I am no real racer and would go just for fun, but would run my old Stream against other boats just to see how it fares. Vests and helmets, general safety inspections would be required.......

I may be able to bring 2 or three guys from my area. The cost to run should be offset by a possible sponsor. It will still cost about 30$ to run for the weekend. Yes we need vests and helmets for the runs. We will be insured and legal to run side by side. So no problems. We may be able to provide camping spots if there is interest.

Sounds good, and I like camping when it's cool. Have you seen the yellow stream at Matlacha Bridge? Know anything about it? On a high rack.....
