I can tell your enthusiasm and your excitement. And I like everything your telling us. I will say this, those engine better be BAD ASS performance, because they got a lot to makeup for be the most ridiculous looking outboards I have ever seen. They are ugly even in a sci fi movie! IMHO, AL (And I am open minded as I own a Yamaha now)

With all the advanced technology and stuff. I never seem to see anything that says that a new 200hp engine is better than a 6yr old 200hp engine. Just that this and that are super advanced and better than this and that but never a comparison on better than what. I like seeing what your saying your exactly better than. Tell me that the new engine drinks 15 gallons per/hr at 5k compared to 6 yrs ago when the closest engine to this new engine was drinking 24 gal/hr. I hate generic hype without the comparison facts, especially what are you comparing it to. My two cents isn't directly related to this article but to any manufacture that is boasting how better their new outboard are.

Hi Al! It really was impressed with the entire launch. I will admit, when I first saw the G2 in 2014, I was not sure what to think of how it looked. But also, I have never embraced the 'pregnant look' of most of today's outboard either. I generally prefer the sharp angles of the older outboards of the 80s, and in this regard, the new Evinrudes appeal to me. I like how the color panels can easily be swapped on the G2, which is something that makes sense. As I've learned more about the G2 platform, I've really become very impressed. I will go over many details in my forthcoming article.

I hope you've been well Al - it's great to see you posting!
    Greg

The integrated steering, single plugin controls, efficiency (barely burning oil), and virtual gauge features are amazing. Is it better? Yes, in every way, including the customization of the cowling.
