All New Designed Doug Wright
I was with Doug today and he is at the point of being able to take everything that he has learned and compiled over the last 16 years and is making a new (low to mid 30s foot cat). For those who have followed Doug's progression and all of the changes that he has made to his existing 32 over the years, one thing always remains constant--The last boat out of the mold is the new fastest one out there and it has been that way since he started. The new boat is being designed for a couple of reasons: 1. There are proven changes that he has made by adding inserts into the existing mold and he knows that it will be faster and have the potential to turn even harder. 2. The new design will be made so that a lot of the hand work currently required throughout production will be eliminated "less body work, less filler, less weight" and less time to complete a customers order. I am sure that there will be updates coming out of the Wright camp soon...

With the new designs, how many different deck molds is he planning to have?

I think that there will be a couple of deck molds from the sounds of it, a pleasure liner, a race liner, and he will be adding length for the guys wanting to power with the 400s. Its a real commitment for such a limited market but it will be a front runner for sure.

That's great that DW will have two decks as it is time consuming to convert a race deck to a pleasure deck. And time means money.
Also, the ability for the new hull molds to be blocked off to create two-length boats is ingenious. I like DW's commitment to the new 4-stroke powerplants. The notch is proly gonna be a simple insert to make it optional as well
Any CAD renderings yet to be shared publicly?

I have talked with Doug a couple times about this design and it's going to be a killer setup.

I think that 34 feet catamaran boats is the sweet spot boat lengths for the new 400R motors. Jay Pillini (Spectre), MTI, are investing big dollars for tooling a 34 cat. Skater is making a lightened 36 cat for the 400ROS motors.
Definitely good times for those in the market for one of these and DW will be in a viable position in the ultra high performance market.

That is the big question Joe - will there be guys to buy this new boat? I talked to Pete just a few weeks ago, and he and I were discussing what is left of the performance market. Gone are the mid-range buyers like me - guys that can only afford $250k-$500k rigs. All that's left are the big money guys that can afford anything they want - which is not an outboard boat. The same holds true for the business jet market - the small to mid size jet sales are down, while large jet sales are up. The disparity between the rich and everyone else is definitely growing at a rapid pace. Enough about that though - I'm certain Doug's new boat is going to perform great for an outboard boat. I can't wait for the "little" 28 he designed to get finished up and out here to Dan so we can run it. I get pics/updates weekly, the first boat built for the single is getting capped right now, and Dan's is in the mold. Doug has become the lone large outboard cat guy since Pete has focused his business on the bigger money inboards for many years now. Please keep us posted as Doug develops this new large outboard cat.

The only thing that I have found to fix problems in this world is money and prayer. I sent Trump a few bucks and pray daily-the next thing is education. We need to have this website put in front of as many people as possible. www.LyingCrookedHillary.com

She's more than crooked - she's the Devil! The problem is, there are more of "them" than there are of "us", and that's why she's going to be our next president. I lost all faith in the majority of Americans when Obama was elected for his second term. I always have, and always will vote Republican - though I know it does no good in today's America, where more people have their hand's out wanting the government to support them than are willing to work hard to be successful.......
