    Tower of power 1500

Hey guys I'm doing a sidewinder restoration and I'm thinking about a tower of power 1500 to power it.
I'm looking to get some of you guys knowledge on is this a good engine to go with at this point in time...I know they're carb fueled....should I be looking at something newer? Just looking for some opinions on that engine choice.......thank you all.

I've got a 73 1500 on my CVX20 which is really way to small for my boat but I was surprised at how well it works.I think this motor is all original.I think the only thing that has been opened up was by me checking the divider plate for holes. It pushes this boat to almost 50 with no set-up at all and an alumn 19 pitch prop.I doubt a regular 150 V6(powerhead rated)would do much better. It still runs 43-44(GPS) with 5 adults,2 kids and 10 gals of fuel.
If I knew it was going to last this long I would have taken better care of it.

    Chris

I have a '78 1500 powering my 17' 1971 Kona using a 19" aluminum prop. GPS at 45 and had a little throttle to go (chine walk after 45). Looks, sounds, and performs great!
