The powered did not grenade, and was was running fine when last ran. The shops from California to Texas I called (proven 2.5 builders) had told me it was worth 3500- 3750 the way it sits so that's what I'm going off. Engine needs a sleeve and piston. That's it!

im a shop in Texas (and one with the best reputation around dfw i know them all) i rebuild 25 /30 motors a year lots of pmaxs over the decades i dont make stuff up, IT DID GRENADE it stuck a piston most likley will need at least one sleeve due to holder stretch out and most likely 2/5 thousandths out of round on the rest new piston, bearings, gasket, switch boxs, regs, clean injectors add it up like i said GLWS, i dont patch them up with one hole rebuild nonsense

Ya I know your an engine shop in Texas and I was not saying you aren't proven! I was pointing out what I was told and stating what was obviously damaged in the engine. Just because YOU don't build "one hole nonesense" doesn't mean it couldn't be done and a person wouldn't be able to enjoy. The other parts you stated are common sense in a rebuild so I don't know where you are going with that. If you are looking to buy a complete power head for penny's on the dollar , we'll I'm sorry it's not going to be here. Thank you, jhered.

Im not sure what you think this thing is worth apparently a bunch i gave 650 bucks for this one i have rebuilt and no shipping plus 300 for midsection i,t takes just as long to assemble use parts as it does new only a cheap skate would go to the expense to send it to a machine shop for one hole repair and then install all the 18 year old parts back in it you obviously are not a mechanic i have a fresh rebuilt 225 power head ready to go 6 brand new sleeves and vertex pistons , new bearings all the right stuff ill take 4500 for it exchange you drop it on and you be back in business

If you read the add I stated it has 4 std pistons that have been replaced and one that is .030 over. So they are not 18 yr old parts wise guy!!! As for "cheap skate" I would call that a person on a budget or properly inspecting used parts for reuse which any down to earth engine builder WOULD DO! . AGAIN.... JUST CAUSE YOU DON'T DO IT DOESN'T MEAN IT WON'T WORK AND WORK WELL!!!! As far as my obviously not being a mechanic, that's a bold statement about someone after a few paragraphs of communication. The engine builders I talked to want $4-4500 for parts and labor alone but a +300hp 2.5l v6 isn't going to get my boat to 115mph in a hurry so that's why the engine and rigging are for sale, so no thank you on your engine offer.

i am down to earth i dont want any one to have to be broke down on the lake because i was too cheap to do it right i install new switchboxs and regulators on my rebuild as well as clean my own injectors (did i say i was a rebuild shop) after 300 rebuilt efi v6 motors with none blown that ive been notified about ,im thinking my way of doing things is successful and your right this world is full of guys who cut corners all the time the piston that smeared was the only one you did not replace right or was it the .30 over any way im not pissing on your add its just too much money especially for one some other "mechanic fixed" if i bought it i would trash all six sleeves and start over but its not a motor for me thanks for the time and GLWS
