Fast boats on salt water?
I understand that salt water is not popular for many on this forum, but I'm surrounded by it! Most people here have center console type boat for fishing in salt water. Is there anyone out there who takes their speedboats on both fresh and salt water? I love the Glastron CV16 style boats and STV's, but I never see them on the salt water rivers. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to this forum so thanks for any information.

There are sooooooo many people on here who are salt water runners. Scream and fly started with salt water roots, check out YouTube ....Greg terzian channel, alot of those fast boats are long island run. Also we have tons of rockets running around in the keys here in fl. Keep lookin, they're out there!

Thanks for your answers. I would love to get into this type of boating (since I don't really fish anyway) sometime. Looking forward to learning a lot about what you all do. Thanks again!

I run mostly in saltwater. No problem but it requires more work after with rinsing and lubing.

Surfshark, welcome to our addictive world. ...it gets worse from here, soon you'll have 3 4 5 motors 2 or 3 boats and each one can't go fast enough.
Spend some time on here, go to the events and you'll start to meet up with these crazy bastards. And there hasn't been a tech question too tough for the guys on here.1977 Hydrostream Vector 2.5 Promax

Yes thats the perfect way to have it for sure!! After each run head up the river to the launch or morage done!! i like that way... Other than that a good spry hose at home or the car wash have a tote of water sitting in the driveway fire her up for a min or so done. Either way easy peezy. SWEET Krypto buy the way!!

Both my twin Shadow and Intimidator came from NY/NJ area and were run a lot in salt water. They are fresh water boats now but as long as you clean, flush and salt away them as well as use spray to protect them from corrosion they will stay very nice.
It is just a little more maintenance. Also the trailer on my Shadow I bought from ChrisM has all the wiring in PVC inside of the trailer frame (Not inside the steel rectangle tube but inside PVC attached to the steel frame and mounted inside for protection) for easy maintenance. (ChrisM does things right) Your trailer is going to get more abuse than your boat launching in salt water. You will have to stay on top of the trailer or just replace them when they rust out. My Shadow trailer is also built for salt water in that all the rectangle tube is capped off so no water can get inside the trailer tubes and rust it from the inside out. It is painted on the outside.

I grew up on salt water (Long Island) and much prefer it to fresh water. I guess I just love the salt air and smell, and the feeling of dried salt on my skin. Something you grow to love when you grew up around it. I know a lot of people are terrified of using their boats in salt water but the truth is that salt water is no more destructive than fresh water as long as proper care is exercised.
