Cleaver not a good prop either. Get a round ear like an worked OMC SRX or a Mazco that is worked to the boat. I bought a 3 blade Mazco new for my HST and it wasn't good till I sent it back for a rework. I also had an SRX worked by DAH that was superb. Cleavers are no good on any of these boats unless you have big HP.

Did you grab it and yank on it back and fourth yet like Dave WI suggested?

Call Kevin @ R&R Prop Shop. He has an HST with a 300PM on it and spent lots of time testing setback, props, engine height, etc. 702-564-7502.

Check your steering for play and motor mounts. I would not run more than 10" with that motor. I run 14" on my AE-21 with a 2.6 Yamaha witch weighs roughly what a 2.5 Merc does with great results. I run about 1.5" above the pad for max speed with one aboard. What prop are you running?
I did install it the right side UP the first time but, due to the ', wedge angle '' of their transom ( HST's ) I could not lower the jackplate enough ( at the end of the travel ) to get the motor into the water. It started at 2in ABOVE the mid pad. That's why I reversed the jackplate. Now I could travel the exhaust plate from the '' EVEN '' point with the pad to about 7'' above the pad ( prop shaft around 1 to 2'' above the pad )

Yes I did AND I found out that the Tilt tube was a little loose so I tightened it to specs and Now, I could get close to the 92 mph mile mark.

    UPDATE:

I removed the 10'' setback plate ( manual jackplate ) and installer the hydraulic one on the transom. I had to lower the engine to the top holes because at the lowest position of the jackplate, the engine prop shaft is already 2'' below pad. So I won't have much play. I definetely will have to get an Hydraulic 6'' setback Jackplate. otherwise It won't be as much fun....

PS: Is there a '' modified water pump '' or a '' HI-PERF WATER PUMP '' for these 3.0L V6 since the water pressure is always at 5 to 6 PSI ??

Either install a bobs machine nose cone on what you have or get a HPDI lower. Post a few pics of you setup now.

You see here the '' new '' setup, at highest and lowest position with the jackplate.

    Hi Dompie,

Find you a nice hydraulic jackplate.

With my bob's I can travel from 3" below to 3" above the pad.

I cannot help with the water pressure question. I would think it would need more press. Are all water passages free? No weed clogged up somwhere?

How did it handle at 92mph? What height was it than?
