Mercury 60hp Question
Question , I have a older 60hp Merc, 3 cyl. looks like mid 80's clam shell bracket, Like to update it to a later model cowl mid 90's one piece, looks like I have to pull the power head which is no problem but are the power heads the same. Don't care to much for the old cowls. Never messed with small outboards, have the power heads stayed the same like the v6's.

If I am not mistaken that is the old 2 carb version.
There is no correlation between that engine and the newer one, except maybe the ignition system.
No parts will interchange.
You are better off selling that and getting a later version.
The last of those, which I think is still made, has decent 960 cc displacement.
Absolute leader in the 60 hp 2 stroke class, almost out performs the 85 Yamaha.
