    Deck to hull joint

    Hi,

I'm in the proces of mounting the hull on the deck. On my previous boat I just used rivets but now am thinking about adding plexus glue at first.

Now the hull has some epoxy primer on it. Does plexus adheres on the epoxy?

    Thanks!

    Regards

Plexus sticks to everything even places you really don't want it to stick !! It has very few friends !! in your case you should be looking for a very slow hardener to give yourself plenty of time to get the join coated evenly and fitted in place then coved and scrape off what's not required inside and out ! Is best when you dry fit the deck to very carefully mask up with wide tape so when its fitted in place and scraped and coved then the tape and masking can be removed taking with it all the left over and making a neat clean job !Its smelly stuff and very sticky and can be messy !so cover up well

Messing round with boats is fun !! the learning never stops ,even after more than 30 years there's always something new happening somewhere ! BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!

Thanks man! Do I realy need plexus or can I get away with epoxy resin and filled with cotton flocks and cabosil? This would def give me some more time to get it right. I can get a MMA glue with a working time off aprox 30min.
I'm thinking about fixating the deck each 3-4 foot with bolt. Glue 3 foot. Than remove the bolts and put some glue in there too. That way it's 100% right and aligned.

Mix up some paste like you are saying. I like to add some fiber hairs in it (a Doug Wright recommendation).
