    Optimax 225 bogs to stop. Slow to restart. But once restarted runs fine to 4800.

    2002 Optimax. Idle perfect at 550.. 13.8 v at fish finder on helm 12.3 shown engine off Batteries new. 3 new coils 3 new coil drivers
    engine will run 5900 just against occasional guardian for rev limit for approx 45 seconds then slowly shut down to 4200. Not in Gaurdian mode. Pull throttle back it shuts down. Acts locked up.. 30 seconds later of sitting fires up and will run all day long if you keep it below 4000 rpm. Power is there acts like its electrical issue vs mechanical. Injectors haven't been touched yet. Pressures are 94/84 on air/ fuel. And compression cold prior to installing engine was 105 psi on all 6 warm was 130 on 5 125 on cyl 6

    sounds like it it may have a reed valve going but that wouldn't cause the full shutdown of the motor at speed...

    944 hrs but only 350 above 1100 rpm....

    Im stumped... New to me motor haven't got the bugs out of it obviously... Ideas?

    engine temp is 120 ish and just below thermostat temp.

    Could it it be trying to cold seize.....

    Is that compressor temp or actual engine temp? Smart craft reads the compressor temp.....120's is normal for compressor. My 2001 opti reads 140ish on the head temps.

    gauge temp from heads.. varified with heat gun on shut down.. heads show 115 degrees after 15 min run external temp smart craft shows 108 at compressor

    if factory T stats are still in it Tstats should be 120... if updated 130... unknown.. havent pulled out yet..

    if its seizing its getting pulled down in 3 weeks and given a touch more clearances... and updated T stat temp... but if its electrical..... thats my biggest worry... is its a power issue.. because then the whole damn boat could be a factor.

    took off a flawless 150 to run into this issue.. but optis are way power hungry vs a carb 2.0

    but it has 900 total hrs on it and this wasnt an issue before obviously...so something changed.....

    WELL HELL tore into it... Broken Reed, and Broken Ring land DAMN IT so beyond the fact it was still running perfectly this sucks... wasnt planning a rebuild yet.. oh well... time to OPTI XS it
