That's pretty sweet ! My first boat in High School was a Carolina skiff 16 DLX with a Johnson 48 !!!!
Center console, and a fwd deck. I Have no idea what we had for a prop on it, or the RPM, But I do know it rode like CHIT in the bay - Pounded to hell. I think the fastest was about 40mph

i don't know what it runs,I just got off dbl. oil breaking with new factory power head, I,vet seen 55 with short bursts under 5k,with 25 tempest plus, should have a 25" motor, but I lowered jack plate 4" and bolted her in lowest setting for now, I am sure the t top and 15 Merc kicker will hold her back, but she is my Great Lakes fisherman,so top speed isn't the goal,65-68 will be fine.

I have a 15 whaler that we put together with some modifications. I have an Optimax powerhead on a custom 15in. midsection with a low water pick up turning a 27 Tillman at 5200 and or a 26 et with a 2.07 gear and looking to break 60 before its all done (am within 2 mph so far). I have a couple more wheels to try and a couple of others being re-worked. Little boats are fun. https://youtu.be/YQ3AHatezZA

One of my other projects is a 17 Montauk with a 200ROS. This should run a little better once I get it balanced out.

varmint, i have a feeling you will be raising the plate about 5" to obtain top speed... a 20" mid on a 25" boat yeilds 3" propshaft below centerline which is where my motor rides to do 69.7 mph with my frankenmerc 250 opti.. my 225 got pro xs pieces along with a few minor port changes and it runs equal to or stronger than a 250 xs popping 3 slugs due to a hung thermostat will do that
