I live in the country and before starting anything that has sat for any length of time I pull the cowl and see what there is to see. Usually just a mouse nest but the destructive little critters love to chew on wires. About a year or so ago we found one with the cylinder full of Asian beetles. Those little suckers ruined the block. It is hard to believe they can find their way inside a cowling let alone a cylinder.
