    Gas line

    Ok what kind of gas line is good above deck outboard have heard bad about the gray stuff and where to get it. thanks Rick

    Stay away from the gray junk, and anything with a "liner" inside as it will bunch up and clog it. I'd just go to NAPA and get real hose, and make your own. All I ever did.

    The "efi gas line" at Napa works. About $5.00 a foot.

    Just make sure its ethanol compliant.Mercury Grey hose with blue writing has replaced the red writing.

    Thanks but doesn't it have to be CG approved to go on top of deck?

    I also use EFI automotive fuel line above deck with no problems( I use only use alky free fuel). I have also notice that it isn't UV sensitive. Gary

    From what I have been told/read, it has to be USCG approved above and below deck.

    I used this stuff recently, it does have a liner in it and I plan to change it every 3 years or so. Takes about 20 minutes to replace it from tank to primer bulb to engine. Trident Barrier Lined A1-15 Fuel Hose

    Hoser on this site sells the blue hose TUX uses and it looks pretty nice.

    The black high pressure FI hose does not break down they say, but it makes your hands black when you handle
    it (with enough UV exposure) as well as gets hard as a rock when it gets old. Either way, you will have to replace it periodically.


    I run non-eth in the boat with the low and high pressure black hose, I use the FI line on the high pressure side to the fuel rail. Hope I never get hassled about it by the USCG but in that boat they would have to remove the back seat to see it. My boat with the Trident Barrier Lined A1-15 Fuel Hose in it has no back seat in it only a race hatch and the hose is right there yelling look at me, so glad it is USCG Approved

    yes must have USCG printed on the hose.

    That is what I thought and have read. At least in TN, it has to be USCG approved fuel line and every one I have seen that is rated for eth gas has a liner. Thank you EPA for screwing us all over. Hopefully the USCG and Green men they call them in TN TWRA guys will be tolerant for people running high pressure fuel lines to the fuel rail from the high pressure pumps.

    make sure you check the line before buying, some places are selling line that has been on the shelf for years. Good advice above.

    The Trident line I got from Defender and it is all crisp and brand new. I got 3/8 going from tank to BRP Evinrude bulb with 3/8 fittings then up to motor with a 3/8 to 5/16 reducer and 5/16 going to the factory funky line that goes from fuel pump to bottom of cowl pan to reducer that is all weird shaped and all that stuff. Wish I could just run 5/16 all the way to pulse pump but have been advised not to and to run the factory Merc hose that I have no idea how they get into the shape it is, I call it the mystery hose with 30 to 90 degree bends and goes through a hole and a clip on the 300x. Miracle of science and manufacturing it is for sure.

    Since when did a simple gas hose get so convoluted? Jessss..I got some Dayco 6L3 3'8th 300 PSI/Flame resistant hose that I used at work everything, and 20 years here the shop. Used it for everything! Had 200+ feet and ran all my shop air lines and made a LOT of gas hose out of it zero problem. Even replaced my weed burner propane torch with it and no problem. I can't find it listed anymore. # probably superseded with newer.
    But if you are going to get pulled over boat a lot (I never have..location) and most is FX/horn/lights and life jackets and sticker all needed. But if worried, I'd play the CG/EPA "game"

    "Marine fuel hose is a different product than standard fuel hose and has to be Coast Guard approved. Marine hose must have the SAE J1527 Style R1 rating emblazoned on the hose to pass as seaworthy. Marine hose is rated for 40 psi

    SAE J1527 Marine Fuel Hoses is the specification for fuel hoses used on boats. Type A under deck, Type B above deck"

    On CGA hose the only I ever used was on my sold I/O that had a gas hose from the tank to the motor filters as needed flexibility. And its THICK! Like 3/8 ID, 3/4 OD. For "below deck" And thats only for flame resistance/burn through a motor fire as in the dog house.

    Anything out and exposed? Napa gas hose is fine. Just use your head as you guys got more brains than ANY EPA "wizard"...

    What do you use under the cowl from the fuel rail to the carbs from the feed has to been very thin walled this is a fee@#$k. thanks Rick

    On 260's or the 300x?

    The260's HP FI Hose. On the 300x the funky Mercury hose at this point at least. Oh I might have mis posted, all my stuff is EFI except our Ski Nautique 1984 PCM.
