    Yamaha HPDI injectors

I'm thinking about buying a boat that has a early 2000's VMAX 200 hpdi that's been sitting. It's running rough and I'm assuming the fuel system needs cleaned out. Are the injectors serviceable or should I consider replacements? I haven't checked injector prices, but I have a feeling it's gonna be expensive. I don't anything about these motors and I'm nervous about the deal.

They can be flowed and cleaned if necessary

After doing some more reading it looks like this motor is a potential nightmare full of filters and expensive pumps.

It is the simplest of the DFI designs, but certainly more expensive to fix than a non-DFI engine.

HPDI pumps are an easy clean/ rebuild if needed.. YES THEY ARE SERVICABLE!!! contrary to what yamaha will tell you.. and the injectors and the 4 hidden bqasket filters are where issues can cause major engine failure.. clean and flow them and remove the filters within the HPDI pump and you wont have any issues.. DO ALL THE FILTERS!!! not just the main clear view filter.. there are like 15 filters total in them..

I spent a lot of time studying everything and it's not bad. The motor is a 2002 2.6 200hp and I would rather pay a little more for the same boat that already has a 3.3 250 hpdi. Is there any reason to consider the 2.6 over the 3.3? The 200hp pushes it a little over 60 mph and that's not too bad for a fishing boat I guess. 70+ would be really fun though LOL

i wouldnt expect 70+ maybe 68-70.. but its possible to get a stronger 250 HPDI.. and see more.. the 3.3's were finiky.. ive fixed 4X the 3.3's than i have the 2.6... FWIW

Holy moly, 15 in total? I wonder if there is a picture out there somewhere pointing to where all these filters are located on the powerhead

Try to stay away from the 3.3. Especially the 250. Was a disaster. 2.6 much better package. With clean filters, the 200 is a potent, and reliable, motor.

never had an issue with a 3.3 IF you do the injector pump filter elimination on them, they clog like CRAZY
