1985 Johnson 140 cylinder head question
Will a 87-93Johnson 140 cylinder head pt #398818 work on my 1985 Johnson 140 ? Thanks in advance.

Believe that's a looper head #. Is your '85 an Xflow or looper?

88 to 93 are a deeper chamber than what you have but could be milled to the same cc. 85-87 are small bore engines while 88 up are larger bore.

Well, raising compression, opening up the exhaust, re-jetting, etc. Are good places to start.
I would assume that motor is a looper. OMC didn't sell a 140 xflow in '85. It was detuned a lil to become the prop rated hp 115.'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked

You can start with either so long as you have a bore shop that can but a recess back into the sleeve at the bottom after boring to the larger displacement.
