Building a new interior from scratch at home.....

Priced interior and WOW.... So.... I bought a sewing machine and here is what i've done so far.

Nice sure you never done this looks real good to me guy who did my seats worked out of his garage and like you bought the stuff and did it.

Wow that's nice and like you said it's often outrageous (and can take forever) to have such custom work done usually.

One little comment though - why use plywood? You can buy PVC board for very reasonable $$ now days at home-depot & lowes, they even have their own cheaper brands of the stuff, for most of what you need in a seat it's plenty strong; and/or for structural pieces there is also stuff like coosa, nida, starboard, all sorts of composite never-rot prefab structural material specifically for marine use too.

Looks like it's coming along awsome, when I made my seats, the worst part was trying to get all the damn creases and crinkles out of the vinyl

Wood seats will last forever unless exposed to the elements for many years. At that point the vinyl covering seats are toast anyway.

Finished the bench today..... Weighs 40 lbs less than what I took out.

I did one other boat ten years ago and have sewn a few repairs on clothes- period. I have looked at a million interior pictures getting ready for this project. I priced an interior and decided it was time to buy a upholstery machine and take a swing at it. Lotta work!! I GET why it's so expensive because it's a load of work and hard on your body. In the boat, outa the boat. In the floor, up outa the floor. My back has hurt for the month it has taken. But i'm thrilled with the results.
