Omc model number help
Hi guys I need some help to find out the Model Number of my outboard motor.
I was told when I bought it that it was a 1995 225hp Johnson and looking at photos of similar motors it looks to be around 1995-96.
I need to get the exact model number as I am rebuilding the engine after it was submerged.
i have attached a photo of the serial number in the hope that someone can cross reference it to find the model number, please let me know if there is any extra info I need to put up, thanks.

You are going to need to find the model number to determine anything. hers how to decipher that information once you locate it.

Is there anywhere else on the motor I might find the model number? The sticker that is on the power trim/mounting plate is missing.

Usually it's on the swivel bracket, you should see the serial number and the model number on the same decal.

Look for a swelch plug on the block(looks like sm. freeze plug) Most of the time it has a model # on it

I think that it was maybe water blasted off the swivel bracket you can see the outline of where it used to be. The plate with the serial number is actually pop riveted on and not just a sticker, I really don't know what OMC were thinking at the time, but then again that wasn't their best time in history, only a few years later it was all over.

They come both ways, riveted and glued on depending on the age. The welch plug doesn't always have the model number, at least mine didn't.

More numbers
H
Here are some photos of some of the numbers I found on the block mounting bracket, from left-
Lower crankshaft bearing plate, this has the year 1995 I assume that the 337083 is a part number.
Mounting bracket which has the serial number and you can see where the sticker with the model number used to be.
Starboard side of mounting bracket has the numbers 30HS and 190183.
The welch plug has the number 0484236.
On top of the block is the Outboard Marine Logo with the numbers 335050 and C19.
Thanks.Allison GT20-Johnson 225

Well i'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down, going by the fact that there is 95 stamped on a couple of items i'd say it's a 95 so it must be a 225STLEO.
Thanks for all your help and if someone can confirm the model number off my serial number that would be awesome.
Also how can I tell that it is definitely a 225 and not 200?Allison GT20-Johnson 225

Is there a number or code on the carbs that could tell me if it's a 200 or 225?

Back in that time, depending on the suffix letter of the model number, (version within a particular model year) there are a number of different combinations of carbs, throttle bodies, air silencers and even intake manifolds. Perhaps the most effective way for you to determine if you have 200 or 225 carbs is to look at the high speed jet in the float bowl. The 200 hp models came with either a 62D or 65D jet and the 225hp's came with either a 64D or 72D jet, depending on model suffix. Hope this helps.
